About Aimee Pashby, Music Educator

Aimee Pashby is a dedicated and dynamic music educator with a rich history of inspiring students through her passion for music. For the past twelve years, she has been the heart and soul of the Rice Lake High School band program, conducting two concert bands, a jazz ensemble, a pep band, and a marching band. Her innovative approach led to the creation of a ukulele strumming club, enhancing the social and emotional well-being of her students, and the development of a thriving steel drum program that now boasts two active groups.

Before her tenure in Rice Lake, Aimee spent twelve years teaching 5th to 12th-grade instrumental music in Shell Lake. She also had the unique experience of teaching music in the Department of Defense Schools in Baumholder and Bad Kreuznach, Germany. Aimee holds a Bachelor of Music Education degree from UW-Eau Claire and a Master's degree in conducting from the American Band College of Sam Houston State University.

Aimee's expertise extends beyond the classroom. She has been a flute and oboe coach for the Wisconsin State Middle Level Honors Band and the Wisconsin State High School Honors Band, as well as a woodwind coach for the State Middle Level Honors Orchestra. In addition, she is currently the flute and oboe coach for the Wisconsin Ambassadors of Music as they prepare for the 2025 Music Trip to Europe. For over a decade, she has been a fixture at the Shell Lake Arts Center summer camp, teaching flute and co-conducting one of the bands at Concert Band Camp. Her private music studio, NoteWorthy Music Studio, serves students of all ages from the surrounding area. She has been teaching private piano and woodwind lessons since 1991 and has several students who are now professional musicians and music teachers.

Excitingly, Aimee is embarking on a new chapter as a lecturer at UW-Stout, where she will be teaching Music in Our World, Jazz History, Rock History, Class Piano I & II, and accompanying the Symphonic Singers and spring musicals. Her forward-thinking vision for music education continues as she works on securing a grant to start a community steel drum band in the Northwoods, expanding the musical horizons of her community.

“Aimee is, in short, the best teacher I could have chosen to guide my daughter in piano lessons. I'm an adept player myself, and a teacher nonetheless, but attempting to coach my own child proved on the verge of traumatic for both of us. When Aimee took the reins, everything changed. My daughter now struggles - to stay away from the piano! She practices for fun. However, beyond that, her skill has increased exponentially in the months since beginning lessons with Aimee. More importantly, her confidence, not just on the piano, but through life in general, has been bolstered in a way I can't imagine having fostered in the way Aimee has so beautifully managed. As a mom, you always hope for your children to one day share your passions, and because of Aimee, that dream is coming to fruition."
